3.1 Design and Make
First Class used magnetic tiles to build the tallest structure in groups. The children really engaged with this task , working as a team and having fun along the way.
3.2 INVESTIGATING ENGINEERING LOCALLY
Making models of vehicles:
5th & 6th class children engaged in some great model building activities from DigiWiz as part of Engineers week. These were really hands on, DIY projects which explored circuits, motors and batteries. Lots of problem solving too!

3.2 FURTHER iNVESTIGATION of LOCAL ENGINEERING
6th class explored how windmills work and afterwards they engaged in a steAm (art/craft activity) design to create their own windmills. We based our designs around Blennerville windmill which is 6km from our school and a landmark familiar to all the children.

3.3 More Design and Make.... with a Festive Flavour!
6th class took on a STEM construction challenge at Christmas time based on the home of the Sugarplum fairy which was entirely made from sweets! The challenge was to construct a building using the biscuits, sweets and squeezable icing sugar (as mortar!) This was a really fun, tasty challenge!
3.3 And more.... Design and Make
4th Class: Building the tallest stable structure possible using lollipop sticks and clothes pegs.
Also, Paper Plate and Straw Marble Mazes
3.3 DESIGN and MAKE
Our Lego club took part in many design and make challenges - for this one they were challenged to design and construct the tallest, freestanding tower they could. 1 tower was even over 1m tall!! Great hands on STEM!

Using STEAM eyes to watch Home Alone-PDST activity in 4th Class.
Pupils watched a clip from Home Alone where all the traps & illusions are set up. We discussed the various scientific elements involved in them all-forces, materials etc and pupils then had to design their own trap for the robbers.
