2.1 Using Microscopes during Investigations
One fine day we took off outdoors as "Minibeast Investigators". We had our petri dishes with us in the hope of coming upon some unsuspecting little creatures. It wasn't long before one pupil had a Daddy long legs in his grasp. We quickly figured out it was an insect after counting its legs etc..and moved back to the classroom to have a closer look under the microscope. "Argh, Spooky" he exclaimed .Next, we had a wolf spider under our spell. Back we darted to the classroom again to find that this one had MORE legs !!! Lastly, it was the turn of the woodlouse. Well, as you can imagine, this pupil was beside himself trying to count the legs. Sadly, we didn't get a final count as the woodlouse didn't like the spotlight of the microscope and wouldn't stay still.
2.2 Use Different Materials
Sixth used technology to create Powerpoint presentations, describing their Dream House Design projects, floor plans, models and sales-pitch.
.INCREDIBLE FLOOR PLANS, MODELLING, PROJECTS from SIXTH CLASS. POWERPOINT PRESENTATIONS were judged by 4 teachers during lunch breaks. WE WERE BLOWN AWAY. HERE you will see design/make evidence of their plans/projects and the AMAZING models. (short vid clip of PP presentation on June |Science twitter thread
Students answered questions regarding geothermal heating, materials to be used, water conservation, environmental impact, electricity source , delivery time, cost per sq meter, time scales, and SUSTAINABILITY! etc. It just can't be said enough - this was the most incredible learning experience for all......over five weeks, at least. Never saw or heard anything like this before.....super engineers, planners, auctioneers, plumbers, architects, salespeople in Sixth Class :) |There were 8 groups/teams in Sixth (2 - 4 students/team)

2.2 Our NEW/FIRST ever iPads are in constant use, every day. Trolley Timetable(20 ipads) is packed!
We are very lucky to have new i pads this year. Here you can see Second Class using technology to create a project in pairs on African animals.
2.3 Use of ICT by children- Seesaw and Zoom
All classes learned how to use Seesaw in June 2020, but we seriously upped our game in September and ensured that every Thursday, all pupils in the school uploaded their work/video/presentation/experiments/baking/ball skills/maths etc on Seesaw. Therefore, everyone was ready and well used to Seesaw when lockdown hit us in Jan/Feb/March 2021. We also found that Zoom (licensed) went extremely well in all classes. It was great to see Senior classes SCREEN SHARE and use breakout rooms etc Younger ones learned how to type , use the drawing tool, add images and post our work in school. Children are now 'experts' at using Seesaw, Zoom, Padlets and more. Extremely proud of all. Below, you will see a small mash of the thousand of photographs on the principal's phone.
